Facilitation will be a key component of any Standing Team deployment, whatever the task, although a different approach will of course be needed when facilitating an After Action Review than with, for example, a joint evaluation.

“Feedback is a Gift” - one of the most important skills for a Standing Team member is to encourage CARE staff to be open to honest feedback, even if it is in the form of constructive criticism. If stakeholders (both CARE and external) are not comfortable about giving feedback then problems are not only likely to repeat themselves but CARE staff risk to erode the trust and respect that are so important to our work. A handout used in previous CARE Standing Team workshop entitled Self-Awareness thru Peer Review & Feedback provides useful guidance.
